Holwerd and the surrounding area
The village of Holwerd is situated in the middle of the landscape, with wide views all over the Frisian farmlands. Various cycling and car or motorcycle routes run in the area, for example the famous Elfstedentocht route.

Hikers will also enjoy themselves; Wadden hiking is more than 1200 kilometers of hiking pleasure on either side of the Wadden Sea world heritage site.
The Wadden islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog are easy to reach to spend a day here, but the cities of Dokkum and Leeuwarden also have a lot to offer tourists. A sailing trip on, for example, the Lauwersmeer is also one of the many possibilities.
You can use your stay as a starting point for various day trips, but also to continue the route through the province after a restful night. And what about doing nothing at all and thus experiencing what silence and nature do for your body and mind?
